For at least three years (maybe closer to four) I’ve been researching, designing, e-mailing, questioning, etc about six different trailer manufactures to get one to build something close to what I needed. Finally! One delivered!
Earlier this year I commissioned a rugged somewhat customized trailer to haul my camera support toys to wherever we may need them. Yesterday I picked it up and couldn’t be more pleased.
Dave Munsterman at Turtleback Trailers… a huge thank you!
(And for anyone who hasn’t seen me lately, this is Dave in the picture, not me. Any resemblance is purely to some unknown possible joint Nordic ancestry that hasn’t been researched.)
I follow Matthews Duclos’ blog. I am an imager. Lenses are the first step in the tools to capture light. If Matthew says something about lenses is worth reading, I’ll take a look at it. But Jon Nelson… there’s another one of me? It couldn’t be me Matthew mentioned in his blog yesterday… could it?
I tend to spend way too much time in various online forums for my various interests. I recently found the following editorial by the founder of Lensrentals.com. Following internet research, I’ve changed my mind, become passionately fond of and outspoken about something I’ve never touched or seen, and doubled my pre-order. (Read the article to translate my sarcasm)
Seems like yesterday was my day for international exposure.
I was shopping over the weekend in our local Costco. There, the TV’s are located just as you enter the door. I stopped a minute and noticed some pretty stunning displays in the $999 to $3,500 range.
As America’s Visual Production Geek Show (NAB) starts this morning in Las Vegas I think the following news link might be the best news this week for image-makers.
I have 19+ items on my “must see” list for NAB this week, but the thought that just maybe we’ll be able to view content in our homes at 4k resolution soon is encouraging. Even better is the thought that boardroom level presentations might have an increased viewing experience as well!
Yet a price drop from $25k to $5k is somewhat startling. Does that mean crew and equipment rates are also going to get slashed?
Happy shopping in Vegas everyone. At “list price”.
Obviously, after seven months of delay, silence, & dead air… frequent blogging is not my strong suit!
But, I have an excuse. Too many of these have been attached to my call sheets lately:
In reality, I’ve been on far more shoots that I could have blogged/bragged about but just plain didn’t. I’ve flown to shoot in ten states this year. A silver frequent flyer card from one airline is here somewhere on my desk. In 2012 I’ve shot on yachts, corporate jets, a military transport jet, and even sat/flew right seat in a C-17 simulator! But no, you haven’t seen a picture from any of those have you.
I’ll do better in
2012 2013. I promise!
In the meantime, I’m signing off for 2012. I’ll hit it hard next year.
Be safe. And remember why we celebrate Christmas!
